“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”
- Maya Angelou
I am a qualified online counsellor and psychotherapist based in North Lanarkshire. I work using an integrative counselling approach, combining different therapeutic methods to create a unique, personalised experience tailored to your needs.
I draw from person-centred therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Polyvagal theory, Psychodynamic therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Gestalt therapy. This integrative approach allows me to work collaboratively with you in online therapy sessions, ensuring your counselling is flexible, supportive, and focused on your personal goals.
One of my main areas of specialism is family estrangement. I have supported many clients navigating the pain, complexity, and mixed emotions that come with distancing from, or losing contact with, family members. Estrangement can be isolating, particularly as it is often misunderstood or rarely discussed. In our work together, I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental space to process your experiences, explore the impact of estrangement, and support you in building relationships with yourself and with others that feel healthier and more aligned with your needs.
I also have a strong interest in neurodivergence, particularly in working with adults who identify as Autistic or ADHD, with or without a formal diagnosis. I support clients to explore language that feels authentic to them, advocate for their needs, and find new ways of living that honour their traits and strengths.
Before training as a counsellor, I studied social science, which helped me develop a systemic understanding of human behaviour and society. My background in sociology, history, politics, and psychology allows me to bring a broad and diverse perspective to my work, enhancing the depth and effectiveness of online therapy.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This demonstrates that my training and qualifications meet the high standards set by the BACP. As a registered member, I am committed to ethical counselling practice, ongoing professional development, and maintaining the highest standards of care through supervision and adherence to the Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
